About Proprepo

Fraud this common is not a market failure. It is a tooling failure.

The origin

In February 2024, a client of Eze's lost ₦18 million on a plot in Lekki Phase 2. The Certificate of Occupancy was genuine. The governor's consent had been forged. The seller had sold the same plot three months earlier.

The professional due diligence firm Eze used had spotted nothing, because they checked the document's surface, not its provenance.

Eze called Nkechi the same week. “I need to build something,” he said, “that looks at a document the way a forger looks at it. It knows what to fake and where.”

Fraudulent property sales cost Nigerians an estimated ₦1.5 trillion a year. Professional due diligence exists, but it is expensive, slow, and concentrated in Lagos and Abuja. Most buyers in secondary cities and emerging areas are entirely unprotected. Proprepo exists to change the arithmetic of that.

The team

Five people, three of whom have lost sleep over a land dispute.

Eze Charles, CEO and Co-founder

Eze Charles

CEO and Co-founder

Eight years as a real estate developer and agent in Lagos. BSc Estate Management, University of Lagos. Watched two clients lose their life savings to fraudulent transactions in the same year. Spent 2023 building a manual checklist his team ran on every transaction, and decided in early 2024 to automate it.

A property transaction is often the largest financial decision of someone’s life. The fact that fraud is this common is not a market failure — it is a tooling failure. Proprepo is the tool.

Property documents in Nigeria come in every format imaginable — faded photocopies, WhatsApp screenshots, official PDFs, handwritten deeds. The first problem we solved was making sense of all of them.

What we hold to

01

Plain language for buyers, not lawyers.

A due diligence report should be readable by the person spending their savings, not just their solicitor.

02

Flag and explain, not just flag.

Every issue we identify comes with a plain explanation of why it is an issue and what the buyer should do about it.

03

We do not guarantee clear title.

We surface the information available. What the buyer does with it is their informed decision.

Run a verification before you commit to anything.
